The train was named Ruby, named after the ruby, a red gemstone. The colour is reflected throughout the interior. On the outside, you can recognise the train by its purple colour around the driver's window.
The interior has been given a new, fresh look. The train offers more comfort. Seats in Comfort and Premium have two practical folding tables. The new design incorporates sustainability: the lights have been replaced by LED lights and the toilets no longer use chemicals.
The biggest change is that the Welcome bar is now called a 'Kiosk'. The bar has been replaced by two vending machines. There is a wide range of drinks and snacks. The 'lounge' has also gone. As a result, there are 28 extra seats and more space for luggage.
The bicycle areas and extra seats cannot be booked at present. Once more train sets are converted then this will become possible. It will take another two years or so before all trains are 'Ruby' trains.
