Luggage on the train

General rules for luggage on international trains

You can usually take your luggage with you on international trains free of charge. However, it is important that you can carry, store and transport your belongings without inconveniencing other passengers.

Column 4

You can store your luggage in one of the following places:

  • In the luggage racks above the seats
  • In the larger racks in the middle of some carriages
  • In the spaces between back-to-back seats

Luggage that does not meet these conditions may be refused. Always keep a close eye on your belongings during your journey, as you remain responsible for them. For added security, label your luggage with your details.

Luggage must not block doors or aisles, and must not be secured with ropes, padlocks, or other devices unless there are special fastening points on the train for this purpose.
