Knowledge domain Kennistrein
Our new knowledge domain: Kennistrein!
From January 1, 2026, we will switch to Kennistrein. From that moment, BraiNS will no longer be accessible. Kennistrein offers the same clear and user-friendly environment you’re used to, but it is still under development.
If you come across anything you miss, please let us know by sending an email to kennistrein@ns.nl or via the feedback button in Kennistrein. Kennistrein is already live.
Kennistrein vs. BraiNS: what changes and what stays the same?
- The design is different. Kennistrein aligns with NS’s corporate style.
- The search function is different. The navigation menu on the left side has disappeared. You can now only search via the search bar. This feature will be expanded and improved.
- The search function is not functional yet for English articles. You can use BraiNS until the 1st of January. In the beginning of January this will be fixed.
- All articles have been transferred 1 on 1 from BraiNS. The content remains unchanged.
- Logging in works differently. You’ll read more about this further down the page!
- Have you indicated that you want to keep your BraiNS account? Then you don’t need to request a new account for Kennistrein.
- Not all functionalities are working yet. Via Kennistrein in development you can see what is still coming and/or has already been reported.

Requesting a new user account
You do not have an account yet? Or you get the error “Invalid input: User does not exist,”? You can request an account by sending an email to kennistrein@ns.nl. We need your personal e-mail, first name, last name with prefix and company name.
Your application for a new account will be processed as soon as possible. During bank holidays it can take a bit longer until you get a reply.
Tip
Add the link kennistrein.ns.nl to your favorites. Kennistrein is very intuitive. If you still want a manual, see Kennistrein Manual. You can ask us anything, but scanning Kennistrein daily for news or updated articles is often quicker! If you encounter any problems, send an email to kennistrein@ns.nl.
