Kandersteg is a popular tourist destination for hikers and skiers. Located in the heart of the Swiss Alps, it is surrounded by a stunning mountain range. There are beautiful hiking trails through the mountains. You can take a chairlift to the mountain peaks and enjoy magnificent views.
Travel to Kandersteg comfortably by train. You have several possible routes to choose from. ICE International can take you to Basel where you can catch a train to Spiez from where you can travel on to Kandersteg. You can also take Thalys to Paris and from there take the train to Basel where you can catch a train to Spiez from where you can travel on to Kandersteg.
You can also take the night train to Basel and change trains there. Sleep while you travel and arrive well rested in the heart of the city!

IIf you have a 1st class ticket, you can enjoy a free drink at the NS International Lounge in Amsterdam, Schiphol Airport and Rotterdam. You also have access to the 1st class lounge of Deutsche Bahn at Berlin Hauptbahnhof, where you can enjoy a free snack and drink (excluding the Supersparpreis rate (Europe) and the Sparpreis Europe rate).
It is not mandatory to reserve a seat. We do, however, advise you to do so. You will receive a confirmation of your seat reservation stating the carriage number and seat number.
When booking a first class ticket, the seat reservation costs are included in the price of your ticket.
