Why visit Burgundy?

The Burgundy region is renowned for its rolling vineyards, ancient abbeys and picturesque towns, which are interspersed with tranquil canals.

Dijon is well worth a visit, with its half-timbered houses, bustling market and compact historic centre. To the south lie the famous wine villages of the Côte d'Or. Do you enjoy cycling? If so, we highly recommend a ride along the wine route between Dijon and Beaune, which takes in fields and small vineyards. And if you love good food, you'll be pleased to know that Burgundy is famous for its cuisine, from boeuf bourguignon to local cheeses. These are often served with a glass of local wine in one of the many little restaurants along the way.

Book a walking or cycling holiday

Explore the vineyards and rolling hills of Burgundy by bike or on foot, and visit charming towns and villages along the way. Desitinations in Burgundy

You can travel by Eurostar from the Netherlands to Paris Gare du Nord station. From there, take the metro to Paris Gare de Lyon, where you can catch the TGV to Dijon. Dijon is centrally located in Burgundy. From there, you can take a regional train to Beaune, Tonnerre or Mâcon. Mâcon-Loché TGV station is located just outside the centre of Mâcon. There are direct trains between Mâcon-Loché TGV and Paris.

Buying tickets

You can buy individual train tickets, and the general rule is that the earlier you book, the lower the price. Tickets for trains to Paris are cheapest if booked around six months before departure. Tickets for trains within France can be booked between four and six months before departure, depending on the destination. You can complete your journey in a single day, or split it into two stages. For example, you could spend a few days in Paris first, then travel on to Burgundy.
Tip: book from the station just nearby – that’s the best value for money.
