Going to a Christmas market? Good news: most Christmas markets open as early as November. You can already buy train tickets to Christmas markets until 9 December.
Do you want to visit a Christmas market after 9 December? Then, in some cases, you will have to be a little patient when buying train tickets. Due to a new schedule from 10 December, we cannot yet sell some tickets. But don't worry. We can let you know when tickets are available on your desired travel day:

The city of Vienna is beautifully decorated at Christmas time. The city has over 20 different Christmas markets, each with its own ambience. You will find Christmas markets with art and design as well as traditional markets where you can enjoy mulled wine. What makes Vienna extra special is the music. In the weeks before Christmas, many concerts are held in the city.
You can travel by train during the day and at night. During the day, ICE International takes you from Amsterdam Central Station, changing trains twice, to Vienna. The Nightjet takes you directly from Amsterdam to the heart of Vienna.

The Christmas markets in Vienna are open from mid-November 2023 to the beginning of January 2024 (subject to change). In the first week of January there's another wonderful winter market.
Even in winter, there's plenty to do in Vienna. Take the Vienna Ring Tram, which runs around in the centre, and see the many beautiful buildings. Or warm up at Café Central, a coffee house in the centre. You can also view the city from above from the Ferris wheel in Wiener Prater city park.
