National public transport strike confirmed for 9 September

Situation

On Wednesday 9 September there is a national public transport strike from the trade unions in the Netherlands. There will be no domestic or international trains running on Wednesday 9 September.

Below you can find the options per carrier to change or cancel your ticket. Please note that the travel planner is not yet adjusted at this moment.

The Airport sprinter between Amsterdam Centraal, Schiphol Airport and Hoofddorp will run on 9 September.

    EuroCity and Eurocity Direct

    Ticket validity

    Tickets for EuroCity, Eurocity Direct and the regional train between Roosendaal and Puurs are valid for travel on Tuesday 8 September and Thursday 10 September. Your ticket does not have to be changed for this.

    Please note: a ticket for EuroCity is not valid for travel on Eurocity Direct and vice versa.

    Changing or cancelling your ticket

    You can also cancel your ticket without costs via My NSI account til a day before departure. From the travel date onwards you can cancel your ticket without costs via our Customer Service center. This can be done upto two months after your original travel date.

    Do you want to travel on another date with EuroCity, Eurocity Direct or the regional train between Roosendaal and Puurs? You can than change your ticket without costs via our Customer Service center to the same train and fare.

    Good to know

    The barcode on your ticket will not work on 8 or 10 September. Go to the Information kiosk at the gates and press the blue i-button for help. You will be contacted by one of our staff members. They will be happy to help you. You can also go to an NS service employee, if they are present at the station.

    ICE

    Ticket validity

    Your ticket remains valid on other ICE trains from Monday 7 September untill Wednesday 16 September. If you have a seat reservation and choose to travel on another ICE, our customer service can change your seat reservation without additional cost.

    Changing or cancelling your ticket

    If you want to travel with ICE on another date, you can change your ticket free of charge. To do so, please contact NS International Customer Service.

    You can also cancel your ticket free of charge. If you have a seat reservation, you can arrange this yourself online in your My NSI account.

    If you don't have a seat reservation, but you do want to cancel your ticket without costs, you can contact NS International Customer Service on +31 (0)30-7515222 (local rate).

    ICE trains to Berlin start at Rheine. ICE trains from Berlin end at Rheine.

    ICE trains to Frankfurt and München start at Köln Hbf. ICE services from Frankfurt and München end at Köln Hbf.

    ICE tickets for 9 September will remain valid on 9 September on the above mentioned sections of the route.

    Nightjet

    Nightjet 40490 and 420 from Wien hbf and Innsbruck Hbf with departure date 8 september will run untill Hannover Hbf.

    Nightjet 402 and 60402 from Zürich HB with departure date 8 september will run untill Köln Hbf.

    Nightjet 40421 and 421 to Wien Hbf and Innsbruck Hbf, departing on 9 September, depart from Hannover Hbf (departure at 21:04).

    Nightjet 403 and 60403 to Zürich HB, departing on 9 September, depart from Köln Hbf (departure at 23:53).

    Ticket validity

    Tickets for Nightjet on 9 September are valid to travel on ICE or other trains of Deutsche Bahn on Monday 7 September, Tuesday 8 September or Thursday 10 September. Your ticket does not have to be changed for this. When you had booked a Comfort Plus ticket, your ticket is also valid in first class compartments on 10 September on the day trains of Deutsche Bahn.

    Changing or cancelling your ticket

    You can change your ticket to another travel date in the same comfort type without costs. To do so, please contact NS International Customer service.

    It is also possible to cancel your ticket without costs. Please also contact our Customer Service on +31 (0)30-7515222 (local rate) to do this.

    You can change or cancel your ticket without costs within two months after your original travel date.

    Eurostar

    Ticket validity

    Your ticket is not valid for travel on another day. Your ticket has to be changed to do so.

    Changing or cancelling your ticket

    You can change your ticket at no cost to another Eurostar in the same class or cancel it. If you only have a ticket for Eurostar, you can change or cancel your journey yourself in your My NSI account. Don't have an account yet? Then create one quickly and easily.

    If you also have a ticket for another train and want to change your journey, please contact NS International Customer Service at +31 (0)30-7515222 (local rate). You can change or cancel your ticket free of charge up to two months after your original travel date.

    Good to know

    If you wish to change your departure station, arrival station or travel itinerary, your current ticket may not be eligible for exchange. In that case, the original ticket must be cancelled and a new ticket purchased. New bookings are subject to availability and the fares available at the time of booking.

    Cancellations on 8 and 10 September

    Due to the strike on 9 September, the following trains will not be running on the Brussel–Amsterdam route on 8 September:

    Eurostar 9369 Paris Nord 17:15 – Amsterdam Central 20:50, will not travel beyond Brussel-Zuid/Midi 18:47

    Eurostar 9381 Paris Nord 19:19 – Amsterdam Central 22:50, will not run beyond Brussel-Zuid/Midi at 20:47

    Eurostar 9152 London St. Pancras 18:04 - Amsterdam Centraal 23:20 does not go further than Brussel-Zuid/Midi 21:09

    Due to the strike on 9 September, the following trains will not run on the Amsterdam–Brussel route on 10 September:

    Eurostar 9310 Amsterdam Centraal 06:10 – Paris Nord 09:38, departs from Brussel-Zuid/Midi.

    Eurostar 9322 Amsterdam Centraal 08:10 – Paris Nord 11:43, departs from Brussel-Zuid/Midi

    Eurostar 9115 Amsterdam Centraal 06:40 - London St. Pancras 09:57 starts at Brussel-Zuid/Midi
