Sports in Milan
Experience the biggest winter sports event of 2026!
Get ready for the biggest winter sports event of the next four years. After 20 years, the event will finally return to European soil in February 2026. Northern Italy will host a global spectacle on snow and ice. While Milan will be the main venue, world-class competitions will also take place in the Alps and the Dolomites.
Travel comfortably and sustainably to Milan by train.
To Milan by train
Milan is easily accessible by international train. You will arrive at Milano Centrale station, which is within walking distance of sports venues, hotels, and the lively city centre. You can choose between a comfortable day trip and an efficient overnight train to Italy.
Travel by day
Travel by day with Eurostar via France with just one change in Paris. Depart in the morning and arrive in the evening in the heart of Milan in 10.57 hours.
An alternative is the route with ICE via Germany and Switzerland, with two changes: in Mannheim and Basel. This trip takes 11.20 hours. The transfer in Mannheim is short, and several trains depart for Basel every hour. If you miss your connection due to a delayed train, there are also several options to reach Milan from Basel.
Travel at night
Would you prefer to travel at night? Board the night train in the evening to Zurich and continue your journey to Italy in the morning. This will ensure you arrive at your destination feeling well-rested. The trip takes 14.35 hours.
Other Italian cities also play host to sporting events
Milan is not the only place on the programme. Races are organised in beautiful mountain landscapes scattered across northern Italy. Many of the venues are in or near the Dolomites and can be easily accessed by a combination of train and (shuttle) bus
- Cortina d’Ampezzo
- Valtellina (Bormio & Livigno)
- Val di Fiemme (Predazzo & Tesero)
- Anterselva (Rasen-Antholz)
- Verona
On the official website, you will find a full list of all the sports disciplines at each venue, along with the daily programme and playing schedules.
Other locations can be reached by public transport
Sports venues outside Milan can also be easily accessed by public transport. From Milan, you can travel by train to nearby cities such as Verona, Trento and Tirano. Special buses and shuttles will be waiting for you at these destinations during the event to take you to the race venues in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Bormio, Livigno, Val di Fiemme and Anterselva, among others. The timetables will be coordinated with the competitions, so you can change buses without any hassle and arrive at the venue on time.
